The MGA kicked off the 2008 season on a cool Sunday, the 17th of February. 32 players played a 4-man scramble. The teams were selected by the "D" players and the balance between teams was perfect.
The scores reflected how evenly matched the groups were. Four of the eight teams tied for low score with 8 under par 63's.

The month of April is PGA Free Fitting And Trade-Up Month. I will be offering free 15-minute equipment fittings, providing expert advice to golfers of all skill levels. These fittings will be on Saturday afternoons throughout the month from 1:00PM until 3:00PM. There is no obligation whatsoever, just sign up in the Pro Shop and we will do the rest. It should be loads of fun to find out how fast your club is moving and how fast your ball is traveling. Spin rates and launch angles are two additional factors that influence the distance on your drives.
The month of May is Free Golf Lesson Month through the PGA of America. Saturday afternoons from 1:00PM to 3:00PM I will be available on the practice tee to offer instruction at no charge to the membership No appointment is necessary, just drop by the driving range and warm up. I will have learning resources available. May is also Bring A Kid To The Driving Range Month, sponsored by the PGA o America. Sunday afternoons from 3:00PM to 5:00PM will be practice sessions with no cost for the membership and their children. This program, we hope, will be a great way to get the whole family involved.
From April to August, Tuesday afternoons will be my golf day. We will have a sign up sheet in the Pro Shop, & if you would like to play, just sign up and we will blast off @ 2:00PM.
TOMI
We are proud to offer TOMI, the coolest putting software on the market! This software will tell you everything about your putting stroke. You have to see it to believe it! Eight different answers to problems will be shown after each stroke. Drop by the Pro Shop and see all the new things we have to offer.
2008 Junior Golf
This year, we have created a U.S. Kids Junior course because regulation courses are too long for young golfers. We are adding 2 new tee locations: Level I is 2200 yds (18 holes) & Level II is 3800 yds (18 holes). Tuesday mornings from June 3rd to July 22nd will be our weekly Junior day, beginning @ 8:30am. Each day will begin with a clinic, progressing to the Junior course when they are ready. Our Junior challenge matches with IHCC will be on July 22nd & BGCC will be the host site. Cost for the season is $60.00 per Junior.

Inter-Club Member/Member Golf
Our Annual exchange with Indian Hills is just around the corner. The Inter-Club is the weekend of April 25th to 27th. The cost is $150 per team and all you have to do is be a member of either BGCC or IHCC. The party on Friday, April 25 is hosted by our Club this year and tee times will be Saturday afternoon @ IHCC & Sunday morning @ BGCC.

Men's Stag Night Dinner & open bar
Range Balls
Continental breakfast on Sunday morning

This year BGCC competed against Owensboro CC in a mini version of the Presidents Cup. The format was chapman system alternate shot on Saturdays first nine holes & best ball on the back nine.

OCC hosted the first day's competition & got off to a great start. OCC totaled 7.5 points on Saturday, while BGCC managed 4.5 points. Sunday singles proved to be just what BGCC needed toatling 8.5 points to OCCs 3.5. The singles gave BGCC 13 total points to OCCs 11. Great job to both teams!
Men's Club Championship 2008
Come join us for the Mens Club Championship 2008 beginning the week of June 3rd. This is a match play event that is preflighted by handicap. There is no handicap involved in the matches. The Championship flight is limited to 32 players, with all other flights limited to 16 players. Please call the Pro Shop @ 842-4581 for more information or to sign up.

BGCC WINS ANNUAL JR CHALLENGE CUP WITH IHCC
For the second consecutive year, the Juniors from BGCC outlasted the Junior team from IHCC. The matches concluded the Junior season at BGCC. The ending of the Junior Tuesday season should be just the beginning of a lifetime pursuit of golf. Junior golfers - keep playing! The fall season is cooler & the course is in rare form during that time. The family tees that we have placed let you "bite off all you can chew". It is great fun for the whole family!
CONGRADULATIONS TO GARY STONE!
Gary Stone aces the par 3 11th hole at BGCC on July 25th. Mr. Stone carded his career 4th hole in one playing with Tony Funari and Jerry Shanks. Great job Gary!
Mens Member/Guest 2008
This years event was a huge success! The sponsorship by Bell, Orr, Ayers. & Moore made our largest event of the year possible. Ten qualifiers from Saturdays play took a shot at the pin on #18 for the annual Simon Shoot-Out. The 2008 Shoot-Out winner was Tim Jones. Mr. Jones laced his shot from 150 yards to within five feet of the stick.
